Past Week

Tuesday, May 19, 2009 we had a memorial service here in Concord for Dad. David gave the Eulogy. There was a men's quartet and they sung "The Lord Is My Shepherd." Next Mike O'Brien, a great friend of Dad, spoke about his memories. Closing remarks were given by Bishop Cliff Beck and the Clayton Valley II Ward Choir sang "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again." Afterward, a luncheon was provided by the Relief Society for all those in attendance. We have a great ward family and an amazing Relief Society president, Karla Moore. We would like to express our gratitude to all those who have supported our family. We have truly been blessed.

Wednesday, May 20, 2009 we ALL headed to Salt Lake City for the funeral. Barrie and Kathy Kay Brewer lent there home for all of us to sleep.
Thursday, May 20, 2009 the funeral services were held. David and Trent both spoke. Good friends, Jeff and Kris Page sung "Consider The Lilies." Last Uncle Doug spoke. A beautiful display table was done by Tessa. Dad loves music. He can play the guitar, piano and boy can he sing.

The pallbearers are honored. David and Trent Wright, Cory Ross, Mark Morrell, Uncle Kirk Mackert, Uncle Doug Wright, and good friends Barrie Brewer and Steve Campbell.
The family. On the far end is Grandma Wright
Look how beautiful Mom looks.

The family. Such a great bond we all have. We know that we will be together forever.
After the funeral the Brewers hosted a luncheon for the family. That evening we had a get-together with all of the Wrights and the Mackerts. Some of us went swimming, we visited, and we enjoyed each others company.
Friday the Brewers offered their cabin up in Weber Canyon. There we jumped on the trampoline, ate s'mores, watched movies, played games, ate aebleskiver pancakes (very delightful) and RODE THE FOUR WHEELERS!

The whole clan. Thanks to the Brewers for a wonderful week and weekend.

Even Carter had a great time. (The top one he is cheesein' it)
This one is his real smile (I love the toothless smile)

In Loving Memory.

Dad was diagnosed with terminal Liver Cancer on August 3, 2007. They gave him 3 months to live. After 21 months, an incredible fight, and amazing faith, Jonathan Carl Wright passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 8:48 pm.

This is my new friend. I have been battling with a low milk supply for 2 1/2 months now. I will pump and then get the supply back up and then stop. Then I start to notice that Carter is wanting more; he pulls off, then goes back on, then pulls off and then back on again. This behavior is repeated the whole time (whole time I mean to say 8 minutes TOTAL! That is for both sides. After this there is NO milk left). He cries cause he can't have more. Finally, I went to the lactation consultant for the 3rd time. He is weighed, I feed him and then weighed again (to see how much he gets). He is able to eat 3 1/2 oz (as many times as he eats he should be getting 5 or 6 oz). She told me that I need to pump, take fenugreek and blessed thistle. So, I pump after every feeding 15 minutes on each side. Plus, since Carter does not eat at night I have to pump one more time after he goes to bed. I did this pumping thing for the whole weekend and I did not see any results. The lactation consultant called to check up. I told her that it was not working. She proceeded to tell me that it might take as long as it took for the problem to occur. You mean to tell me I have to do this for about a month or two. Yes, this is what I have to do if I want to continue to breast feed Carter. After the 4th day of using a single pump, pumping 35 minutes at a time 7 times in a day, I told Dave that we are going to get a double pump. I purchased one on Ebay. I can't wait for it to arrive.

The reason this is happening: Carter was not eating often enough for my body to sustain the milk supply. My body was under the impression that he was being weened. Lesson that I have learned (I hope that others can learn from my mistake) is, babies need to eat often. I know that Carter could go every 4 hours, but in order for my body to produce the right amount and sustain it, he needs to eat every 3 hours. Translates to how many times; at 3 months he should have been eating at least 8 times in a 24 hour period, now at 5 months he should be eating 6-7 times (depending on the amount).

Now I am sitting here PUMPING. When will it ever end. I am determined to not give up. I want to be able to feed my baby. I feel so horrible that this is happening and I hope that if you are reading this that it never happens to you.

The Cup

Yesterday did not start off well. The night before was bad and I hardly got any sleep. I had a head ache and allergies.

All was better after I took a nap with Carter. Dave did not know this because when he left for work I was not happy. When Dave came home he had this in his hand. It sure did brighten up my day. Thank you Honey.

Later, as I was drinking the Jamba Juice Carter seemed very interested in it. So, I let him explore. He tried holding and eating the cup. After a little while of letting him explore, I tried to take it away from him. The world ended. He got so upset that I took it away from him. When I gave it back to him he was happy again. It was the funniest thing. I didn't know that he would start this early caring that things were taken from him.

Happy Cinco De Mayo

Today we celebrated by just eating Mexican food. It was yummy. Today Carter is 5 months old. I took him outside because the weather was SO nice. I put him the grass. I should have got it on camera because he was really hesitant and did not like it at first. Eventually, he got used to it and was ok with laying down on it. This one is my favorite. He is just looking up at the sky.
I finally got him to smile (kind of) in the one above.

This one he looks mad. I think he was done laying in the grass.

Dave started growling at Carter when he does his high-pitched scream. It actually makes him stop. He likes it and makes him smile. So, to get him to smile for the picture I growed at him. This picture looks like he is growling back.

Carter's First Bite

We have been planning this day for awhile. I kept saying next week we'll do it, then today, spur of the moment, it happened.

Feeding him was kind of fun (I was nervous). This is how it went.
"I want more" Here you go "I don't know about this" "YUM" "My turn" After all that he was happy. The rice cereal was a hit. He liked it. We had a good time and will do it again.
